Work in progress

I started this personal project by looking at everyday items which tend to not be very aesthetic, and where form follows function. The first product I looked at improving was the contact lense case.

As it’s a product I use daily, I noticed that contact lense cases tend to be made of hard plastic and usually designed to be disposed of after a few months.

I wanted to design a contact lense case with a longer life span, and that would be made of a more aesthetic material like glass, so that it could be more of a permanent installment in the bathroom, without being an eye sore.

Initial sketches

I opted for organic shapes, especially ones which would look interesting when made of glass. I wanted to create something with some weight to it, so I decided to have a base of solid glass, especially as it’s quite a small product.

Initial renders

I created some renders to visualise one of the initial forms in solid glass. I explored different glass densities and colours.

This project is a work in progress and will be updated soon. The final outcome will hopefully be a product family designed for the bathroom, with all the products complementing each other using form, colour, and material.
